La Fête du Travail

Today is the Fête du Travail, the Celebration of Work, which of course means that no one is working and the buses aren't running and all the stores are closed. But that's fine with me, because I have plenty of work to do today here at home, researching monastic life and cheese history and finally getting this paper in order, in order to have a day or two next week to focus on some of the planning and details for Mom and John's visit. Ten days to go! It's very exciting. Must make checklists, do laundry, call contacts to verify reservations, stock up on gluten-free baguettes ...

But first, to the books!
